Joie Iacono was born in New York City on New Years Eve 1980
where she still lives and works. Her work is a somewhat diaristic
pastiche consisting of portraiture, self portraiture, still life and
landscape photography referencing classical painting, fashion,
cinema, music and literature. Iacono’s visual vocabulary is based on her own very personalized self mythology while challenging assumed notions of the classical and iconic. Having received her bachelor’s degree in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2003, Iacono was inspired by modern masters she had the opportunity to study with such as David Armstrong, Billy Sullivan, Joseph Maida, Dike Blair and Jenny Gage among others. Joie debuted her first solo exhibition “To Drown A Rose” in 2004 at Wallspace Gallery, NYC with great success and has been included in numerous group exhibitions. Her client list has included Hercules Magazine, Nylon Magazine, New York Times, New York Magazine, Ego Magazine, EMI Records, Time Out and The Guardian Guide.
